Why does false pregnancy occur?
In the wild, dogs live in a pack environment and, if a female dog doesn`t become pregnant, she may develop a false pregnancy to help nurse other puppies in the group.
In the domestic environment, however, the clinical signs can be distressing for both you and your pet. False pregnancy may also increase the risk of mastitisinflammation of the mammary glands and mammary tumours developing.
